Halloween is right around the corner. ‘Tis the season to celebrate a spooky Halloween with jack-o-lanterns, costumes, trick-or-treating, parties, and horror movies. However,  according to the CDC, traditional Halloween festivities could potentially increase the risk of spreading COVID-19, so this year it may be better to celebrate Halloween at home. Don’t fear, staying at home doesn’t mean that you can’t have fun. You can still do plenty of activities to get into the spirit of this spooky season and make it memorable from your own home. One of those activities? Joining in with the TikTok community to celebrate virtually. 

Over the past couple of weeks, many influencers and TikTokers have posted  Halloween-inspired TikTok videos. These videos are on-top trending right now, and many people are enjoying this atypical way of celebration. Here are the top 10 Halloween TikTok trends that many TikTokers have been doing:

1. #HorrorTok

With a total of 1.7 billion views, #HorrorTok is one of the top trends on TikTok for Halloween. TikTokers post horror stories that have happened in their life or they create one. #HorrorTok suggests followers turn off their lights and pull up the covers to dramatize the scary factors of these videos. 

2. #SpookyTreats

#SpookyTreats is a trend where TikTokers post videos making candies, cookies, or any other kind of sweet treat. If you are looking for some Halloween treat ideas, this trend will be your go-to.

3. #Boo

Do you like to scare people on Halloween? This trend is for you. There are videos of how to scare people in various ways. You’ll be sure to laugh when you see people’s reactions.

4. #WitchTok

#WitchTok has 5 billion views across all videos using this hashtag, presenting how people experiment with dressing up and telling stories to demonstrate witchcraft’s presence and spirits. This is the trending hashtag that has the most views out of the ten trending hashtags.

5. #Artober

For anyone who likes drawing, painting, sketching, or creating of any kind,#Artober is the trend to check out. You can grab your art supplies and be creative.

TikTok is a blank canvas that allows its users to express creativity for Halloween in various ways: cooking, dressing-up, painting, drawing, crafting, designing, etc. Scrolling through various feeds, you can certainly see many trending Halloween videos. Some of the TikTok creators that have been getting into the Halloween spirit include:

On his TikTok page, the majority of his videos are dedicated to Halloween. His video with the caption “Spooky vibe,” combines the #Boo trend and the #Dreams trend, getting him 3.6 million views and 1.1 million “hearts” on the video. Her channel composes videos of face-painting. If you need to get some inspiration on face-painting for Halloween, @fancyflutie is where you should go. She has a diverse range of face painting ideas. She also shows her extreme creativity through every design that she puts on her face, and has done a great job of portraying her talents.

Spencer and George created this account together. Their content is geared towards storytelling. During Halloween, they use the storytelling talents that they are best known for sharing horror stories. They add fun elements to the horror stories to make it less scary so that it is more exciting for users to watch.
